The VE6CNP repeater has be around now for about 6 years. We are a affiliate repeater of
the FARS network www.fars.ca with
the HUB being in NANTON AB at 145.170-.
With out the FARS group
the CNP repeater would not have been possible, and with out the East Kootenay group the
province to province link would not have been possible.
We greatly
appreciate all the help we have recieved from these two groups and
enjoy working together to maintain this great network.
The
year after we installed the original repeater we were almost wiped out
by a forest fire but were saved by the fact that our repeater was in a
forestry
fire lookout, so it was
hit heavily with retardent.

In 2005 through the generosity of TransCanada Pipelines and their "
Gifts in Kind " program we were able to obtain a new repeater building
about 2km north of the forestry fire lookout where ve6cnp is now
located.
Through
many trial and errors we have upgraded and added linking between
Alberta and British Columbia, now linking VE6HRB (CALGARY AB) to VE7CAP
(CRANBROOK B.C). Thanks to Joe VE7CRJ for all his help on this.

In August 2007 we recieved the donation of a Motorola MSR 2000 repeater
and thanks to Joe VE7CRJ for all his hard work on this project, we also
purchased a 6 cavity reslok duplexer and installed both units on
Aug 10, 07.
With this new equipment we have hopes of being a very reliable repeater system for years to come.
If you would like to support the people who make amateur radio a
success we are always willing to accept donations of radio equipment,
antennas, or cash.
What you might consider garbage electronics we may be able to turn into something usefull that may very well save a life.
